19 Northern Governors Meet With Nigerian Defence Chief Musa, Traditional Rulers Over Insecurity | #NwokeukwuMascot

  News   File Image Amid insecurity issues affecting Northern Nigeria, governors of the 19 Northern states on Monday met with the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, to deliberate on the challenges facing the region. Some of the issues central to the discussion include insecurity, poverty, out-of-school children and other socio-economic challenges ravaging the region. The meeting, held in Kaduna State, also had in attendance traditional rulers from the region. The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, and hosted by Governor Uba Sani at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna. Those in attendance were the governors of Kaduna, Gombe, Zamfara, Nasarawa, Borno, Bauchi, Kwara and Adamawa states, among others. According to TCN, insecurity in the area has hindered swift repairs, delaying restoration of electricity supply. In a statement on Sunday titled "TCN clarifies on efforts to restore bulk power in Northern Nigeria amid security challenges," General Manager Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah explained that vandalism caused the outage, disrupting bulk power supply to the region. Mbah stated that TCN is collaborating with the National Security Adviser's office to secure the area, to enable engineers to carry out repairs on the affected site. As a temporary solution, she said that TCN rerouted bulk power through the Ugwuaji-Apir 330kV line, which recently experienced a fault. A press release signed by the Deputy Chief Registrar informed lawyers and journalists of this sudden change. The notice cited security concerns as the compelling reason for postponing this week's sittings. “Despite the fact that we have issued a HEARING Notice against 28th of October to 1st November, we are compelled by some security concerns to postpone the sitting this week. All Hearing Notices issued stand to be cancelled,” it said. “We issued this information ahead of time to save your time, energy and money.
