Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu phd  Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has warned those nursing the intention of coronating one Sarki Shehu Bello 11 as the Emir of Aba Emirate Council to desist from such or face the full weight of the law. The Governor said there is no recourse to Government in this rumoured coronation. Governor Ikpeazu in a release signed by the Secretary to the Government Government, Barr. Chris Ezem therefore directed the immediate cancellation of the proposed illegal coronation, insisting that there is nothing like Aba Emirate Council in the State. The release added, "Government further warns all residents in the state especially those resident in Aba to be law abiding. "Law enforcement agents have been directed  to swing into action and ensure that no such event capable of breaching the existing peace in the state takes place in Aba or any part of the State."

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has released the timetable for the conduct of fresh governorship primary in Abia State. This follows the death of its former guber candidate in the state, Prof Eleazar Uche Ikonne on the 25th of February, 2023. Consequent upon that, the Party is expected to replace its late candidate within fourteen days of the demise through a fresh primary election. The party at both the state and national levels have been working assiduously together to ensure they beat the 14-day deadline as stipulated by law. The National Working Committee of the party has therefore released a statement today setting the timetable for the conduct of the fresh primary election. The Ebonyi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested one Ikenna Ogbonna Ota, a native of Azuoto Okpoitumo community in Abakaliki Local Government Area of the state. Ota was arrested for stealing and presenting a stolen cow for the burial rites of his late father in-law. It’s a known tradition among the people of Izzi clan in the state to perform burial rites of their deceased relations, especially parents and in-laws with cows in order to avert stigmatisation by the people. Ota was reported to have visited the family house of his in-laws on Friday for the presentation of materials for the burial of their late father, according to The Point. He had come with a female cow he allegedly stole from his community to them for the ceremony. Unfortunately for him, the owner of the stolen native cow, Thomas Agbo, who came to sympathise with the family of the deceased, was able to identify the cow being presented by the son-in-law as his missing cow and raised the alarm. A couple who were brutally murdered by kidnappers despite the payment of N7.5m ransom has been laid to rest in Anambra state, ANAMBRA PEOPLE reports. Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, 36, and his wife, Mirian Chinwendu, 30, who got married in May 29, 2021, were returning home after attending a programme at the Holy Ghost Adoration, Uke, in the Idemili North LGA, when they were abducted. They were buried in their hometown at Isiekwulu, Ukpo, in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State on Thursday, December 15, 2022. It was gathered that the couple were with their four-month-old baby, whom the kidnappers abandoned in the car. A source said family members initially paid the kidnappers the sum of N5m, but the hoodlums demanded an additional N2.5m, which took the family time to raise, as they sold part of their land to generate the money. After collecting the complete ransom, the kidnappers reportedly switched off their phones. About two months later, the community saw the corpses of the couple
