Worried by the danger posed to his ambition in next year’s presidential election by the camp of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP’s) flag bearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has offered the governor a new deal. Both men met on Thursday in Abuja in a fresh bid to patch up their differences, with Atiku promising to support Wike’s own presidential bid in 2027 if he (Wike) agreed to sheathe his sword and support him (Atiku) in the 2023 election. The duo and their supporters have been locked in a face-off since June when the former vice president overlooked Wike and picked Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate. Previous efforts to reconcile them had failed to yield any positive result. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has filed a formal communication with the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP) of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The petition, obtained from another IPOB’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor’s Twitter handle, is targeted against Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State over the killings in Obigbo in 2020 of IPOB members. The petition filed by Bruce Fein, international lawyer and spokesman for Nnamdi Kanu, leader of IPOB, was addressed to the ICC Chief Prosecutor, Karim Khan, Information and Evidenced Unit, Office of the Prosecutor, Post Office Box 19519, 2500, CM The Hague, The Netherlands. Fein, in the submission, dated September 28, 2022, is asking the ICC to charge Governor Wike with genocide and crimes against humanity against Biafrans. Governor Nyesom Wike   of River state has recalled how the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and a former Senate President, Saraki flawed former President Goodluck Jonathan’s pleas to rescind their decision of leaving the party in 2014. Gov Wike said the Sokoto Governor, Aminu Tanbuwal was among those, who humiliated Jonathan after the 2014 convention as they insisted that it was the turn of the north. The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar has declared that the PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu won't resign as being demanded by the Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike and other PDP Governors in his camp. The team of the  Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike  in the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has pulled out of the campaign Council of the party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar. Rising from their stormy meeting in Port Harcourt early morning on Wednesday, members of the team vowed not to partake in Atiku’s campaign activities pending the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu. The camp of Governor Nyesom Wike in the Peoples Democratic Party has officially announced its withdrawal from participating in the presidential campaign of the party for the 2023 elections. Mr Valentine Ozigbo,  A chieftain of the Labour Party, has said the party’s leadership is making plans to woo the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, and other aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress leaders to support the party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, ahead of the 2023 general election.   Ozigbo, who was the governorship candidate of the PDP in the Anambra State governorship election, stressed that the LP would be ready to enter into an alliance with Wike, and some other willing state governors to gain their support for Obi’s presidential bid in their respective states. Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has emerged as the new Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum.  Makinde emerged as the new chairman few minutes after the former chairman, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State resigns from the position on Thursday.  The oyo state governor emerged as the new chairman at the ongoing PDP National Executive Council Board meeting in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. A total of 397 members of the NEC including past national chairmen of the party, the immediate past Vice President of the country, Namadi Sambo, the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, among others were accredited for the meeting.
