The State of Minnesota, USA is today celebrating its annual Wizkid day to honour Afrobeats superstar singer, “Wizkid. The celebration started in 2019 when Governor Mark Dayton declared the 6th of October every year as the City’s Wizkid Day. In the sealed and stamped document while declaring the day, the Governor noted that the recognition is in honor of Wizkid’s achievements in music and his role as a cultural influencer. Wizkid was honoured after he became the first African artist to sell out the Skyway Theatre Minneapolis in 2019. Since then, Wizkid has achieved greatly with his music including winning a Grammy-award in 2021, reaching the Billboard Top 10, selling out the prestigious 02 Arena on three consecutive nights, and winning a plethora of awards. He recently received an RIAA platinum plaque for becoming the first and only Nigerian and African artist to have his album sell above 500,000 copies in the United States. Minnesota is an upper midwestern region of the United States.

Olugbengae Owolabi Ayorinde Owolabi, the brother of a hotelier, late Olugbengae Owolabi, has said the United States of America gave the Nigerian government a time frame to find his killers. PUNCH Metro  had reported that Olugbenga and a worker at his hotel, Rachael Opadele, were abducted by gunmen at Ogbomoso, Oyo State. They were killed by their abductors on August 3. Olugbenga, a US citizen, was said to be living in Maryland, US, and decided to invest in hospitality business in his hometown, Ogbomoso. It was learnt that the hotel was opened in December 2021 and he was abducted and killed a few months after. His funeral held on October 1 at the Trinity Life Church, Maryland, US. Ayorinde, who spoke to our correspondent on Monday, said the American government asked the Department of State Services to bring his brother’s killers to justice. A United States Coast Guard ship on routine patrol in the Bering Sea came across a guided missile cruiser from China, officials said Monday. But it turned out the cruiser wasn't alone as it sailed about 86 miles north of Alaska's Kiska Island, on September 19. Two other Chinese naval ships and four Russian naval vessels, including a destroyer, were spotted in single formation, the patrol boat, known as a cutter called Kimball, discovered. The Honolulu-based Kimball, a 418-foot vessel, observed as the ships broke formation and dispersed. A C-130 Hercules provided air support for the Kimball from the Coast Guard station in Kodiak. The US Coast Guard disclosed the sighting on Monday in a press release. American singer, Robert Kelly, popularly known as R.Kelly, has been found guilty of child pornography after a month-long trial in Chicago. The singer, who is serving a 30-year sentence was found guilty on Wednesday. According to Chicago Tribune, the three-time Grammy Award-winner, who was acquitted by a federal jury of seven other counts including charges that he obstructed justice in a previous trial was convicted of three counts of producing child pornography and three counts of enticement of a minor.  Kelly and two ex-associates, who were accused of rigging the singer’s 2008 child pornography trial were tried alongside him and were acquitted of obstruction charges.
