PDP Crisis: NWC members return N122.4m received from PDP.

No fewer than four members of the National Working Committee Peoples Democratic Party have returned N122.4 million paid into their accounts by the main opposition party leader . There had been media reports that the PDP’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, allegedly paid over N100m to the NWC members after the party’s primaries. The money was said to be part of the over N10 billion realised by the party from nomination fees paid by aspirants. The NWC members who returned the money are the National Vice Chairman (South-West) Olasoji Adagunodo, the Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja; National Vice Chairman (South), Chief Dan Orbih and National Women Leader, Prof. Stella Affah-Attoe. While Arapaja got N36 million, Adagunodo, Orbih and Effah-Attoe got N28.8 million each. But in a letter to the PDP leadership notifying Ayu of returning the money, Orbi wrote claimed that he was only notified of the payment by his bank without any description. A Peoples Democratic Party PDP chieftain and Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District, Mr Chimaroke Nnamani has been listed as a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, ahead of next year’s Presidential Election. Nnamani, a former governor of Enugu state is Number 350 on the 422-member campaign council. He is listed as a member of the local government directorate. Senator Nnamani had last month described the presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a strong politician but said he would vote for his own party’s candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Neither the APC nor the council has responded to messages seeking clarifications on the seeming mix up.

PDP Crisis: Nobody can force Ayu to resign, Atiku to Wike.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar has declared that the PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu won't resign as being demanded by the Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike and other PDP Governors in his camp. Atiku, in a reaction to the withdrawal of Wike and his loyalists from the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, urged the aggrieved party chieftains to have a rethink and retrace their steps In a statement on Wednesday, Atiku said: "On the calls for the resignation or removal from office of our national chairman, however, I must reiterate what I have said severally in public and in private; the decision for Dr. Iyorchia Ayu to resign from office is personal to Dr. Ayu and, neither I nor anyone else can make that decision for him.
