Umuahia – Senator Austin Akobundu, representing Abia Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has expressed deep gratitude to his constituents for their support throughout 2024. In a heartfelt New Year message, the Senator highlighted the collective strides made during the past year while urging his constituents to embrace 2025 with renewed hope, unity, and determination.




Reflecting on his achievements, Senator Akobundu credited the trust and cooperation of the people for the progress recorded in areas such as youth empowerment, education, infrastructure, and economic growth. He assured them of his unwavering commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy in the new year.

As we step into 2025, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to you for your unwavering support, trust, and cooperation throughout the past year. Together, we have overcome challenges, celebrated milestones, and taken significant strides toward improving our communities.



“In 2024, we prioritized initiatives that addressed critical needs: infrastructure rehabilitation, youth empowerment, education, healthcare, and economic growth. From the ongoing digital skills training for 1,000 youths, educational scholarships both to teachers and regular students, agricultural support, and legislative efforts to secure federal development projects and recruitment, these achievements were made possible by your trust and encouragement.




“This year, I am more committed than ever to pursuing programs and policies that uplift our communities. We will intensify efforts to complete ongoing projects, initiate new ones, and ensure that every sector feels the positive impact of governance. I will continue to be your voice in the Senate, advocating for your needs and aspirations.






“I call on each of you to embrace 2025 with renewed hope, unity, and determination. Let us support one another, stay resilient, and work collectively toward building a stronger, more prosperous Abia Central.

Senator Akobundu’s generosity during the festive season has further endeared him to his constituents. On Tuesday, he distributed Christmas and New Year gifts, including bags of rice, to families across the six LGAs in the district.




This gesture complemented ongoing initiatives such as the construction of six skills acquisition centers (one in each LGA), free training for youths in ICT, robotics, artificial intelligence, and embedded systems, as well as empowerment programs in farming and other trades.




Constituents expressed gratitude and surprise at the Senator’s sustained efforts, describing him as a model of excellent representation and leadership. Many lauded his legislative contributions, which have attracted federal development projects, and prayed for his continued success.




As 2025 begins, Senator Akobundu remains steadfast in his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents, pledging to make the year one of remarkable achievements for Abia Central Senatorial District.
