A recent video has gone viral on social media, showing a team of Abia state taskforce chased and stoned by angry mob around Azikiwe/Asa Junction axis of Aba.
It can be recalled that in July 2024, Alex Otti’s regime procured Innoson Vehicles buses for what it termed the smooth operations of the Harmonized Taskforce across urban centers in Abia State, formally handing them over to the taskforce coordinators.
However, there have been a series of complaints about the taskforce’s mode of operation across the state. Speaking to reporters in Aba today, Mrs. Elizabeth Robert, a businesswoman, narrated how what led to the regime’s taskforce clash with residents.
In her words: “My name is Elizabeth Robert, a businesswoman. We were arranging goods for customers to buy when this taskforce came with mobile police officers and started dragging our goods into their bus.
“They claimed that if you place goods across the gutter, they will seize them, but we did not place our goods there. A container was clearly blocking the goods. How then could we have placed them across the gutter? I don’t know why they decided to take our goods.

“That’s when my workers started struggling with them to retrieve the goods. They arrested my customers and workers. While we were running around to bail them out, they came back again, and that’s how the fight started.”
Mrs. Elizabeth further lamented how Alex Otti’s regime allegedly collects money from them each time they are offloading goods and also turn around to harass and suppress them. She concluded by calling on Emperor Alex Otti’s regime to take urgent action to address the situation and curb the excesses of his taskforce.
