The Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Austin Akobundu, has congratulated Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her reappointment as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).




In his congratulatory message, Senator Akobundu described Dr. Okonjo-Iweala’s reelection, achieved without opposition, as “a statement of emphatic confidence reposed in her by stakeholders of the foremost global body.” He commended her for being a role model to younger generations, not only in Nigeria but globally.




Highlighting her professional competence and exemplary leadership qualities, Senator Akobundu noted that Dr. Okonjo-Iweala had consistently demonstrated excellence, including during her tenure as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. He emphasized that her unwavering dedication has continued to earn her international recognition and accolades.




“I trust that she will continue to make Abia Central in particular and Nigeria as a whole proud in all her endeavours while remaining a mentor to the younger generation.
