‘Emperor’ Alex Otti Presents 2025 Budget of Over N750 Billion to Abia Assembly, Reflecting a 30% Increase from 2024 | #NwokeukwuMascot

“Emperor”Alex Chioma Otti has presented the 2025 budget, valued at Seven hundred and Fifty billion, two hundred and eighty two million, two hundred thousand Naira only to the Abia State House of Assembly for consideration.
The proposed budget which reflects a significant 30% increase compared to the 2024 budget, which according to Emperor’ Otti underscores his Regimes commitment to scaling up development efforts across the state.
In his address, Emperor Otti acknowledged the presence of all stakeholders, including members of the press. The 2025 budget proposal, titled “Sustaining the Momentum,” was introduced with gratitude to the Assembly for their contributions and steadfast commitment to Abia State, irrespective of political affiliations.
The budget breaks down into N611.6 billion (82%) for capital projects across the state’s 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and N138.6 billion (18%) for recurrent expenditure, encompassing personnel costs, overhead, debt servicing, and social benefits.
Funding sources according to Otti includes estimated Statutory Allocations (N183.4 billion – a 96% increase from 2024 projections), Value Added Tax (VAT) (N55.2 billion – a 37% increase), Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) (N100.6 billion – a 213% increase), Grants (N25.5 billion – a 55% increase), and Loans (N364.1 billion – a 14% increase).
The governor outlined his administration’s achievements over the past year which he attributed the successes to the collaboration and support from the legislators. He emphasized that the increased budget allocation is aimed at consolidating these gains and accelerating the state’s development trajectory.
The Assembly is expected to thoroughly review the budget to align its provisions with Abia’s development priorities.
