FACT-CHECKING GOVERNOR ALEX OTTI by Moses A ORJI | #NwokeukwuMascot

Citizen Obinna Oriaku has done excellently well as a conscientious citizen  in fact-checking this administration headed by Governor Otti.

He is not the only former Finance Commissioner , and we don't know what is the matter with the rest. Some of them who brandished intimidating credentials to justify their appointments are today recoiled in their shells, or hiding in the crowd. Yet, we all know that a Government that is intentionally dishonest has befallen us.

Obinna Oriaku is a heart warming testament to the fact that character is the overriding prerequisite for public office holding. Little wonder the Otti-led government is working round the clock in search of anything that could nail him and dent his image.

Our GOVERNOR has never hidden his proclivity towards brandishing lies and make-believe just to enjoy the "accolades of the moment".

But what our GOVERNOR fails to understand is the continuous erosion of credibility around his name, image and person as these lies and deceit continue to pile up.

Last month the governor celebrated Abia's huge FDI inflows. There were doubts, but his CPS went haywire with the falsehood.  But this morning the NBS have released the names of the four states which gained FDI, and Abia was not there.

Psychologists have given us the background qualifications that characterize a STEALING propensity. The fundamental mindset of a thief is take what does not rightly belong to him, and to lie and deny his involvement.

 Obviously a compulsive lier must be a thief. Even if he has not stolen,he would steal the moment opportunity makes it a low-risk venture.

 STEALING is an attitude of the mind,as well as an act. A mind that is bent on telling lies and making false claims is a indeed a thieving mind.

But the case of our GOVERNOR goes beyond INTENTON. On several occasions, our GOVERNOR has been caught pants down.

For example, I don't know how our pensioners today see Dr. Otti each time he clears his throat to speak.

Our own Governor Otti went to the United States and in the video clip I have right here with me claimed to have paid off a nine year pension backlog.

Of course he received a locomotive applause.

But today we know he lied. The pensioners are crying every day, calling our governor despicable names. But like in every rogue government, our governor's only response  was to come up with his own "Concerned Pensioners" who claim that they are willing to forfeit their pension backlogs as long as their current pension are paid.

But is that fair? All over and around us governors are clearing Pension and salary backlogs incurred mainly during the COVID-19 era of dwindling monthly accruals. Many of the states around us are now paying off gratuities. But our GOVERNOR is different.

But my question to the 'concerned pensioners' is a simple one: If OTTI was not going to pay you the backlogs,why did he lie that he had paid?

Remember that our GOVERNOR prepared the minds of the pensioners when he said he would rather borrow than renege on paying the backlogs.

Our GOVERNOR was also captured on camera claiming to have engaged one of the three most reputable Audit firms in the World to carry out a forensic audit of Abia financial transactions by the  preceding administration. And that the Forensic Report revealed "mind boggling looting of the Treasury".

And the deafening applause rent the air.

Again, what did we find out eventually. Of course we found all these to be lies, and misleading propaganda to tarnish the image of others. The Forensic Report was a mere creation in Otti's propaganda mind. KPMG was even forced to issue a disclaimer. 

Our GOVERNOR has spent over #100billion as reported in his official budget performance website on items such as  Improved Agricultural Seedlings, ICT centres, Recreational Facilities, etc. Till now, that I'm typing Chaka,Chaka, with my phone, our GOVERNOR or any of his commissioners have not taken anybody to any of the locations where this projects are located.The  year is going, and soon another agricultural activity would commence.

I have never seen any of Abia's Agric cooperative Societies, or any of our ubiquitous rural women engaged in farming who got a seed or seedling from the Otti government since it's inception.

 Yet our governor wants us to see him as a man of integrity. He has said, " under my watch, not a Kobo of Abia resources would be stolen" But he gets furious and angry when our journalists summon the courage to ask real questions which border on how government money is being spent.

OTTI is our GOVERNOR, but what is happening in Abia is not happening elsewhere.It is only in Abia you hear of UNKNOWN Projects. Yet  billions have disappeared from our Treasury for their execution.

When a substance begins to smell,we wash it with water,.. but now that water itself is smelling, what do you do?

The worst affliction that could befall any political entity is to have a rogue leadership in place.

 

I don't know how else to define the Abia scenario under the Otti leadership.

I would be glad to see how anyone in good conscience would defend  the lies and deceits of the Otti-led government without resorting to sophistry

It's scary having  suspected characters man your Treasury. 

That's what we see in Abia today.
