The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under the leadership of its Chairman, Elder Abraham Amah, has announced the appointment of a Shadow Cabinet as part of efforts to ensure effective governance and accountability in the state. This initiative according to the Abia PDP aims to provide robust oversight of the state government, scrutinize its actions and policies, and present alternative viewpoints and solutions to issues affecting the people of Abia State.
Contained in a statement released by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr Eric Ikwuagwu, the appointments reflect a commitment to strengthening democratic processes and governance model responsive to the aspirations of Abians. The appointees, described as distinguished individuals with expertise in their respective fields, are tasked with mirroring the functions of state government ministries while offering viable policy alternatives.

1. Jude Udeachara – Shadow Commissioner for Trade and Investment
2. Barr. Bob Ogu – Shadow Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General
3. Obinna Don Norman (ADC State Chairman) – Shadow Commissioner for Policy and Projects Evaluation
4. Chief Uche Aguoru – Shadow Commissioner for Due Process and Project Implementation Monitoring
5. Prof. S.K. Orie – Shadow Commissioner for Education and Local Content Development
6. Barr. Ukpai Ukairo – Shadow Commissioner for Human Rights and Ombudsman

The Shadow Cabinet according to the Abia PDP is expected to conduct in-depth research, critically evaluate government policies, and provide constructive recommendations to enhance governance in Abia State. Elder Abraham Amah emphasized that these appointments symbolize the PDP’s dedication to providing a proactive alternative to governance, ensuring that the state government remains accountable and transparent in its dealings.

• Amos Anuma – Director of Protocol
• Okechukwu Peters – Personal Assistant to the Chairman
• Chukwudi Ezebuiro – Administrative Secretary
• Mascot Nwokeukwu – Media Assistant to the Chairman
• Comrade Chinonso Agbaeze – Media Assistant to the Chairman
The PDP believes that empowering capable individuals with these shadow roles will strengthen democracy in Abia State by constructive engagement with the government and promoting policies that prioritize the welfare of the people.
