Tragedy: Newlyweds Killed in Gas Explosion Days After Traditional Wedding to Be Buried This Week | #NwokeukwuMascot

In a heartbreaking tragedy, newly married couple Caleb Chinonyerem Enyinnaya and his wife, Glory Chimagbaenweghi Caleb, lost their lives in a gas explosion barely a week after their traditional wedding. The shocking incident occurred in Umuleocha, Umuokahia Autonomous Community, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, leaving their families, friends, and the entire community in deep mourning.




The tragic event unfolded when a gas leak in their residence led to a sudden explosion, claiming the lives of both Caleb, aged 37, and his wife Glory, aged 22. The young couple, whose union had just been celebrated by their families and loved ones, met an untimely demise that has left many grappling with grief and disbelief.




The bereaved families, represented by Eld. S.C. Ugorji of Umuleocha and Dr./Mrs. Ihechere Amaia of Umuogele Avu-Ntigha, Isiala Ngwa North LGA, are devastated by the loss. What should have been the beginning of a new chapter for Caleb and Glory turned into a painful tragedy, leaving a void that words cannot express.




Plans for their final rites have been announced, with a wake-keep scheduled for Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at their residence on Umuahia Road, Umuokahia Ogbor-Hill, Aba, starting from 7:00 PM. The burial will take place the next day, Wednesday, November 13, 2024, beginning with a procession from the S.D.A Mortuary to their home, followed by a funeral service at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Umuokahia Township. The interment will occur immediately after the service.


The untimely death of this young couple has cast a shadow of sorrow over the entire community, turning what was recently a joyous celebration into a time of profound grief. As family, friends, and well-wishers gather to pay their last respects, the painful reality of their loss serves as a somber reminder of life’s fragility.




May the gentle souls of Caleb Chinonyerem Enyinnaya and Glory Chimagbaenweghi Caleb rest in perfect peace, as their families find strength and comfort in these trying times.
