Abia  — The Ngwa Rangers, a prominent advocacy group for the Ukwa/Ngwa community, has officially launched a recall campaign against Hon. Munachim Alozie, the legislative representative for the Obingwa-Osisioma-Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency, citing severe neglect of duties and lack of engagement with the constituents he serves.

The campaign follows a troubling pattern of absenteeism from Hon. Alozie, who has been notably missing from both his legislative responsibilities and community interactions since assuming office. The representative, who is often reported to attend or send delegates to social events like funerals and church dedications, has faced increasing criticism for failing to fulfill his primary legislative roles.

Kingsley Ihesiaba, Publicity Secretary of the Ngwa Rangers, expressed the group's concerns: “The House of Representatives is meant to actively voice the concerns and needs of the people. Sadly, Hon. Alozie’s actions have not only failed his constituents but also threatened the democratic values we hold dear. His consistent absence and lack of initiative in legislative debates and community projects have led us to question his commitment to the people of Obingwa, Osisioma, and Ugwunagbo.”

Amid escalating frustrations, the Ngwa Rangers advocacy group has passed a vote of no confidence against Hon. Munachim Alozie, initiating the recall process as allowed under Section 69 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). This action emphasizes a broader call for accountability and responsiveness from elected officials, especially those serving the Ukwa-Ngwa regions.

In their press release titled "Ngwa Rangers Initiates Campaign to Recall Hon. Munachim Alozie, Representative of Obingwa, Osisioma Ngwa, and Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency,” the group is urging constituents from these areas to support the recall petition. They contend that the region merits a representative who not only addresses but also prioritizes the community’s needs, advocating for improved governance.

To facilitate the recall, the Ngwa Rangers have set up an online petition and are urging local residents to sign it to demand more proactive and engaged representation in the national legislature. Statement reads in full: “As staunch defenders of the collective interests of the Ukwa/Ngwa people, the Ngwa Rangers are deeply concerned about the absence of  the member  representing the good people of Obingwa-Osisioma-Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency, Hon. Munachim Alozie. Hon. Alozie since his election, has been noticeably absent from both his duties and the eye of the public.

“Contrary to his obligations, Hon. Alozie is frequently mentioned in various publications for attending funerals and church dedications, either in person or through representatives. This diversion from his primary responsibilities—lawmaking and advocating for our community—highlights a severe neglect of his duties and a disregard for the democratic principles that underpin our nation.

“The role of the House of Representatives is to serve as a voice for the people and address local concerns, a mission that Hon. Alozie has failed to fulfill. His lackluster performance not only fails his constituents but also jeopardizes the democratic integrity of our entire constituency.

“It is time for us to express our dissatisfaction with this lack of effective representation and advocate for a change that will truly benefit our communities. We are calling for the recall of Hon. Munachim Alozie and his replacement with a representative who will earnestly address and value our communities' needs.

“For the future prosperity of Obingwa, Osisioma, and Ugwunagbo, we urge you to join this cause. Please follow the attached link to sign the petition for the recall of Hon. Munachim Alozie from the House of Representatives. Our communities deserve active and dedicated representation. Sign the Petition

This initiative serves as a stern warning to his colleagues at the National and State Assemblies from the Ukwa-Ngwa extraction, signaling an end to business as usual and also the community's resolve to ensure their voices are heard and adequately represented in the Nigerian government, signaling a new era of civic engagement and accountability in the region.
