  Politics   File Image  Nyesom Wike,  minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), has warned governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against interfering in the affairs of the party in Rivers  state. Wike and Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers, have been involved in a political tussle over the control of the state since 2023. The rift between both politicians has created two factions in the Rivers house of assembly — with each  camp electing a speaker   loyal to the minister and the governor. Wike  spoke at the PDP secretariat in Port Harcourt during the party’s state congress on Saturday. He was responding to a recent expression of support by the PDP Governors’ Forum in a communiqué issued in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba, for Fubara. The PDP governors also called for a review of the party congress outcome to restore Fubara’s leadership role in the state.   News   File Image The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has given a seven-day ultimatum to Oduma community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State to return an allegedly stolen pistol belonging to the agency. The warning was given in a statement issued by NDLEA Public Relations Officer, Daniel Obah. It was learnt that no fewer than four NDLEA operatives were injured after being assaulted by some angry youths from the community on Wednesday. The operatives were attempting to arrest drug peddlers, and the operational vehicle of the state’s NDLEA command was also vandalised by the youths, who are suspected to be accomplices of the drug peddlers.   On Thursday, Obah said that the command’s men “went for a routine operation to arrest some drug peddlers when some youths attacked them, resulting in four personnel being critically injured.”   He added that the injured personnel were still in hospital receiving treatment, while three other operatives with minor injuries had

  News   File Image There was apprehension in Bayelsa State after four officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) were reportedly injured at Oruma community in the Ogbia Local Government Area of the state. The officials were said to be in search of drug peddlers in the community. The NDLEA operatives were said to have stormed the border community with Rivers State with the intention to arrest some drug peddlers when they were attacked by irate youths. According to the spokesperson of the state command of the NDLEA, Mr. Daniel Obah, who confirmed this in Yenagoa on Thursday, he said four of its men who were critically injured are still in the hospital receiving treatments.   News   File Image The Nigerian Defence Headquarters has claimed that troops of Operation Udoka of the Nigerian military in the month of August killed 21 suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its security outfit, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
