The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has emerged victorious in all 25 local government areas of Delta State in the Local Government Council Election held on Saturday.
According to the executive summary of the results presented by the Chairman of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, Jerry Agbaike, the PDP won overwhelmingly, securing all but one Councillorship seat out of 500 wards.
The sole exception was a single Councillorship seat won by the Allied Peoples Movement.
Earlier on Sunday, we reported that the PDP also emerged triumphant in Adamawa State's Saturday election, winning all 21 local government council chairmanship seats.
Furthermore, the PDP dominated the councillor seats, securing 225 wins and losing only one seat to the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP).
This was announced on Sunday by the Chairman of Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC), Muhammed Umar.
The election resulted in a gender-balanced leadership, with 21 women emerging as vice chairpersons, while 21 men were elected as chairpersons, showcasing a notable parity in representation.
SaharaReporters reported on Saturday that the election was expected to make a significant leap towards gender balance, with a predicted outcome of 21 male council chairmen and 21 female vice chairmen, transcending party affiliations and win margins.
This development is a result of the state's deliberate effort to promote gender mainstreaming, which led to all chairmanship candidates selecting female running mates, thereby ensuring a gender-balanced ticket in the elections.
