The recent upsurge in violent crimes in Abia State especially as it concerns the killing of security agents particularly in Aba should be of immense worry to all well meaning Abians.
We have also seen an upsurge in kidnapping, car jacking, armed robbery etc in different parts of the state. The situation does not bode well for our state.
My sincerest condolences to families of the victims of the Aba killings, the affected security agencies, the government and indeed the people of Abia State. We can only work and pray for the restoration of enduring normalcy in the state.
While efforts of government to fight the ravaging insecurity must be appreciated, there is obviously room for more to be done to improve the situation. Considering that past administrations also had their own security challenges which they overcame, it is time for Governor Otti to reach out to Heads of those administrations for their invaluable advice.
This is not the time to play politics or allow political differences come between him and such vital information and advice that can help to address the situation. Governor Otti can greatly tap into their experiences before the situation gets worse.
While I urge Abians to rally round the government and our security agencies in addressing the situation, I earnestly appeal to those behind the killings to sheathe their swords and give peace a chance. Insecurity affects everyone one way or the other including the perpetrators, and we can not afford to see our state destroyed.
Abia belongs to all of us and we must all work together to ensure it does not fail! There is zero room for political differences once the security of our state is challenged. Do your best to support the government and security agents to secure our state because it is always the right thing to do.
