In his resignation letter titled "Resignation of Appointment as a Member of the Rivers State Executive Council," Professor Chinedu highlighted the detrimental atmosphere within the government. He stated, "It is a truism that a calm, safe, and friendly environment would stimulate efficient service delivery and enhanced productivity.
“It is, however, unfortunate to note that my current workspace has become toxic and no longer guarantees a favorable environment to enable me to realize my set targets for the education sector in the State."

Chinedu pointed out the loss of trust, animosity, and sharp division among colleagues, describing the situation as unhealthy and very unfortunate. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and extended his best wishes to the administration.
Following closely on the heels of Chinedu's departure, Gift Worlu also announced his resignation from his role as the Commissioner for Housing. In his letter, Worlu described his resignation as one of the most difficult decisions of his life, driven by the "toxic atmosphere that has characterized our working relationship."
He specifically cited the "smouldering arbitrariness of decisions and actions, including the attempt to fuse the executive and legislative arms of government in Rivers State," as key factors in his decision. Like Chinedu, Worlu thanked Governor Fubara for the opportunity to serve and wished him well in his future endeavors.

These resignations have sparked speculation about potential further departures from Governor Fubara's administration. Both commissioners have expressed serious concerns about the governance climate, which could influence others contemplating similar decisions.
As the situation unfolds, the impact of these high-profile resignations on the functioning and stability of the Rivers State government remains to be seen.
