Nimbo community, situated in the Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, once again faced aggression from suspected Fulani herdsmen, according to reports.
The recent assault, occurring late Sunday evening, resulted in loss of lives and left many critically wounded.
Sources revealed that the assailants targeted mourners in the Ugwuijoro Nimbo community, leaving behind a scene of mourning and despair.
Among the deceased were Okeh Simon Ugwu Oruku, Okeh Chukwuebuka, Julius Ogbonna Odiegwu, and Gabriel Ugwor Ezea. A distressing video, observed by DAILY POST on Monday morning, depicted a deserted community.
The narrator in the video described how the attackers caught the villagers off guard, firing randomly at the mourners. The compound where the mourners had gathered was strewn with overturned tables and chairs, amidst the tragic sight of lifeless bodies lying in pools of blood.
This latest incident echoes the 2016 attack on Nimbo, which resulted in numerous casualties and sparked nationwide outrage. As of now, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Enugu State Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, has not responded to enquiries regarding the recent assault.
