The Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy, through its Board of Trustees member Ukpai O. Ukairo, Esq., has formally written to Abia Governor, Alex Otti, requesting transparency and accountability regarding the alleged forensic report.
The Centre emphasizes that the longer the government withholds this report, the more skeptical the public becomes. The letter, titled "Application for Access to Records under the Sections 1 and 3 of the Freedom of Information Act," states the following requests:
“A copy of the Forensic Audit Report mentioned by Governor Alex Otti during his Town Hall Meeting in the United States, where he alleged that the administration of His Excellency, Victor Okezie Ikpeazu, paid billions of Naira for an airport and to unnamed contractors.
“The letter of appointment of the Audit Firm responsible for conducting the Forensic Audit, as required by the Public Procurement Act.
“The vouchers showing the payments made to the Audit Firm for their professional services. The extract of the minutes of the Executive Council Meeting that adopted the Forensic Audit Report.” It ended.
The letter also emphasizes on Governor Otti's obligation under the Freedom of Information Act to release the requested records within seven days, underscoring the importance of governmental transparency and accountability in addressing public concerns.
