…Nigerian Pupils Adapt to Learning Challenges, Overcome Lack of Classrooms in FCT Government School | #NwokeukwuMascot
The students of LEA primary school in the Bagusa, Dei Dei community in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, have shown remarkable resilience in their pursuit of education despite the lack of proper classrooms.
During a recent visit to the school, it was observed that the students, who are in their teens, have improvised by creating a makeshift learning space using wooden structures. However, due to the deteriorating condition of the roof, they are exposed to the scorching sun while studying.
In a similar incident reported earlier this year, 92 pupils attending LEA Primary School, Etsu Dagba, Dobi Ward, Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT, Abuja, were captured on camera learning under a tree.
In response to these challenges, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) under the leadership of FCT minister, Nyseom Wike, visited the school and took action. The headmaster was instructed to merge two classes into one room, aiming to address the lack of infrastructure.
However, it is important to note that this solution may result in overcrowding, as confirmed by a source familiar with the incident. The education secretary of the Gwagwalada local council area requested the teachers to combine classes as a temporary measure to compensate for the lack of proper facilities in the school.
These circumstances were brought to light through a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Monitng, shedding light on the students' determination to acquire an education despite the absence of proper classrooms.
