 News   File Image  The mother of a 5-month-old baby killed by a foreign d0g in Osogbo, Osun state, Nafisat Muideen, Thursday, explained how she watched helplessly while the dog devoured her baby, Mariam. She explained that the incident happened at a new site at Haleluyah Estate, Osogbo, on Wednesday, when she was going to buy drugs for the baby. Residents of the area said the d0g must have been locked up in the building for a long time before it escaped. The woman narrated how the workers at the site later helped her k!l the d0g to rescue the baby, but all to no avail. Findings showed that the dog escaped after digging under the gate for some days where it was allegedly locked up. The inhabitants of the building were said to have locked the dog and traveled out of the town for some days. The woman said, “I did not know when he jumped and seized my baby from my back. The place was silent (serene) and I didn’t see anybody come out to me when I was shouting.“

President Bola Tinubu has disbanded the board and management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) led by Lauretta Onochie. The state government said it had, however, procured N1.4 billion worth of grains in order to crash the prices of foodstuff by 50 per cent in the state. On August 17, the federal government announced a N5 billion palliative for each state of the federation, including the federal capital territory (FCT), to cushion the impact of the removal of the petrol subsidy. Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno State, had made the announcement in Abuja while briefing State House correspondents at the end of a National Economic Council (NEC) meeting. The building, located on Plot 226, Cadastral Zone A02 Wuse 1, Wuse, Zone 6 District, is said to belong to Oba Oyebade Lipede, the Alake of Egba land, but was allegedly taken over by one Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Kamba and Alhaji Ademu Teku, who illegally constructed the duplex against all warnings. The Director, Department of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima, said his team carried out an extensive investigation to ascertain the original owner of the plot, given varying claims by the parties. The party office located along Wetheral road in the heart of the state capital, Owerri, was allegedly attacked by thugs which saw campaign posters and banners of the guber candidate of the party, Athan Achonu, the presidential candidate, Peter Obi and other party insignia destroyed.
