The Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, for Obingwa West State Constituency in the March 11th House of Assembly election, Elder Erondu Jnr. Erondu, has expressed disaffection with the conduct of the Presidential and National Elections currently going on.
Addressing newsmen after casting his vote at Polling Unit 20, Ward 3, Umuaro in Obingwa LGA of Abia State, Elder Erondu, said he is not satisfied with the late arrival of Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, stating that the late arrival of materials is capable of disenfranchising a lot of people.
He decried the inability of INEC to provide vehicles to convey their staff and materials to polling units, revealing that stakeholders in the area had to intervene by way of providing vehicles to convey the officials and materials to polling units.
Elder Erondu Jnr. said INEC Officials contacted, informed that they had challenges with vehicles to convey materials and their staff, noting that this spurred stakeholders to render assistance.
He called for an extension in the voting process, saying that it is not possible for an election that started around 12 noon should end by 2:30 pm.
On voter turn out, Elder Erondu, commended the electorates for coming out enmasse to exercise their civil obligations, saying the people are eager to exercise their franchise.
